What I have always loved about Front End Web Development is the ability to bridge the gap between the abstract and concrete. Similar to the way an artist can use paint and canvas to create art that can evoke emotion, a front end developer uses HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create interactive art. Code is our brush and the web is our canvas.
The ability to take an idea or design and craft something that has the potential to be used, accessed, and utilized by millions of people is honestly amazing. Accompany that with making that product accessible so that all users are able to access, creates a feeling that you are making an impact. Users are able to gain information, make purchases, appointments or be entertained through your craft. Developing a genuine user experience.
User Experience, at its core, is an exercise in understanding human behavior. CTA’s, Hero sections, and navigation bars. These elements and more all work together seamlessly to reduce the friction between the User and their end goal. Through decisions like button size, button placement, wording and color can subtly guide the user on their journey. Things like A/B testing show that these decisions are more art than science.
I could not have chosen a better career. The blend of art and science, business and technology, user interface and user experience. This is an amazing space to work in and I’m thankful to be apart of it.
